Digital twin

Digital twin, virtual plant.

A 3D model shows what an installation looks like. A digital twin tells you what state it is in right now. The difference is not graphic, it is contractual: the second commits to up-to-date data.

What separates a twin from a model

The model is a frozen photograph, useful in design. The twin is fed continuously by sensors, the CMMS and business systems. A pivot identifier links the modelled object, its maintenance history and its live measurements.

Simulate before acting

Flow simulation, what-if scenarios, workshop re-layout, buffer sizing. Testing a change on the twin costs a few engineering days; testing it in production costs weeks of throughput.

Where to start

Rarely with the whole plant. We start on a perimeter where data already exists and decisions are frequent — a critical line, a bottleneck station, an asset whose failure is expensive.

Use cases

  • Line re-layout and sizing
  • Operator training without stopping production
  • Shutdown preparation
  • Critical asset condition monitoring
  • Investment decision support
